Fill out our online credit application from home, and it goes to the finance team at Bud Clary Auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram before you ever get on SR 167 or SR 18. How our online credit application works
The form on our site is Bud Clary Auburn's own credit application, not a manufacturer lender's form, so it reaches our finance team first. It moves through a few short sections.
- Contact detailsYour name, phone number and email, so our finance team knows how to reach you.
- Where you liveYour current address and housing details.
- Personal detailsThe identity information a lender needs before it can pull your credit report.
- IncomeWhere your money comes from and how much. Pay from a job, self-employment, part-time work, a pension, Social Security or disability may all count toward it. The lender makes that call.
- Co-applicantFill this part in only when a spouse, partner or co-signer is applying with you.
- After you hit submitOur finance team looks over what you sent and contacts you at the phone number or email you entered. That call is the time to ask what lenders will want to see and which vehicles fit the budget you have in mind.
Rather talk it through first? Call (253) 833-2485 and ask for the finance team.
Why apply before you drive in from Kent, Puyallup or Renton
SR 167 brings you to Auburn from Renton, Kent and Puyallup. From Federal Way it's SR 18, and from Enumclaw it's SR 164. Whichever road you take, sending the application ahead lets you ask questions and gather paperwork before you give up an evening to traffic.
A credit-challenged application often takes more back and forth than a clean one. A lender may ask for a recent pay stub, proof of your address or more money down before it makes an offer, and it's easier to sort that out by phone than in the showroom.
When you're ready to come in, we're at 2925 Auburn Way N. Sales stays open until 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday, so a weeknight visit after work is realistic.
How dealer financing works here
Bud Clary Auburn arranges financing; it doesn't make the credit decision. As the CFPB explains, a dealership's finance department gathers your information and sends it on to one or more lenders: banks, credit unions or auto finance companies. Each lender sets its own terms, and the lender that ends up holding the loan is the one you pay each month.
Our finance team works with credit unions as well as traditional lenders, and all credit types are welcome to apply.
Lenders look at more than a score. Expect questions about how much you earn and how steady it is, your other monthly debts, how past auto loans went, and what you can put down or trade in. Under Regulation B, a lender can't discount your income because it comes from a public assistance program such as Social Security, or because it's pension or part-time pay, though it can weigh the amount and whether it's likely to continue.
You're free to bring a loan offer from your own bank or credit union and compare it with what our lenders come back with.
What to bring
Lenders commonly ask for the items below. Have them ready to send if our finance team asks, or bring them when you visit. Not every lender needs every one.
- A valid driver's license
- Recent pay stubs, or bank statements and tax returns if you work for yourself
- Award letters for Social Security, disability or pension income
- Proof of your current address, like a utility bill or rental agreement
- Your insurance card, or your agent's name and number
- The title or loan payoff details for your trade, plus every key you have for it
Cars that fit a tighter budget
A lower price means less to borrow, which can widen the set of lenders willing to look at your application. Our used vehicles under $20,000 page is a live list that changes as cars sell, and the full used inventory is one click away.
Any used vehicle you buy from Bud Clary has been through a 117-point inspection and comes with its free CARFAX report. You also get a 3-month / 3,000-mile limited warranty, two oil changes and two tire rotations, and a 3-day / 300-mile exchange if it turns out to be the wrong fit.
Trading in a car you still owe on
We buy vehicles of every make, even if you don't buy one from us, and we pay off your current loan or lease with your lender directly. A lost title or a missing key doesn't have to stop it: we work with what you have and take care of the DMV paperwork. Any equity can go toward the down payment on your next vehicle, and in Washington a trade-in also lowers the taxable price of the one you buy.
Before you sign
Sometimes a buyer drives home before a lender has bought the contract. Washington's dealer law, RCW 46.70.180, gives the dealer four days, not counting Saturdays, Sundays or legal holidays, to tell you whether that conditional contract is accepted. If it's rejected, the dealer has to refund your down payment and return your trade-in.
Ask us whether your financing is final before you drive away, and read every page before you sign. A negotiable documentary service fee of up to $200 may be added to the sale price.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a car loan with bad credit in Auburn?
You can apply. Lenders, not the dealership, decide, and along with your score they weigh your income, your other debts, how past auto loans went and what you can put down. Our finance team sends applications to lenders that consider buyers with past credit problems.
Will applying online hurt my credit?
Lenders that review your application check your credit, and that inquiry can show on your report. When you shop several auto lenders within a short window, credit scoring generally treats those checks as one inquiry; the CFPB puts that window at 14 to 45 days.
I'm a first-time buyer with no credit. Can I still apply?
You can apply. When there's no file to judge, lenders lean harder on your income, your time on the job and at your current address, and any money down or co-signer. Our online form has a co-applicant section if someone is applying with you.
Does Social Security or disability income count for a car loan?
It may. Federal Regulation B keeps lenders from writing off benefit, pension or part-time income because of where it comes from, though they can look at the amount and how long it will last. The lender decides. Bring your award letter.
Can I buy a car during Chapter 13 or after bankruptcy?
Talk to your bankruptcy attorney or trustee first. U.S. Courts guidance says that while a Chapter 13 plan is running, you shouldn't take on new debt without checking with the trustee first. If your case is discharged, bring the discharge papers so a lender can see it's closed.
How much money down will a lender want?
There's no single number. The lender sets what it needs based on your application and the vehicle, and our finance team will tell you before you sign. Equity in a trade-in can count toward it.
