About Dustin

Over 10 years at Bud Clary, Dustin has worked across every brand the group carries: Ford, Chevrolet, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. That group is third-generation and family-owned, and its 14 franchise stores are spread over five Washington cities.

The interest started early. As a little boy he was already hooked on cars, and he learned to work a clutch behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz 240D. In high school he picked up a certificate of work readiness and AYES and NATEF certifications, earning college credits as he worked toward an ASE certification.

He hasn't stopped turning wrenches. His own vehicles are a Chevy Silverado 1500 on a mid-travel suspension setup, a Nissan 370Z he takes drifting, and the one he likes best, an all-wheel-drive Audi A6 TDI with a large single turbo. He has done every bit of the TDI's work himself, including three turbo upgrades and replacements, and it is coming up on 200,000 miles. Apart from one key fob that needed programming, no other mechanic has worked on his cars.

When he writes a guide, he aims to tell shoppers what he would tell a friend.

Dustin and Bud Clary Auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Bud Clary Auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram sits on Auburn Way N, a few minutes from SR 18 and SR 167. It sells and services the whole Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram lineup, from Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with the 6.7L Cummins to chassis cabs, ProMaster vans and Jeep Wranglers, and it shares the street with the Bud Clary Commercial Truck Center, the group's shop for medium and heavy duty trucks of every make.

Dustin keeps a high-mileage turbodiesel on the road in his own garage, and he drives a full-size pickup himself. His guides for this store start from the owner's side of a diesel truck: what Ram's 2026 owner's manual actually asks for on the Cummins, what the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty does and doesn't cover, and when a job belongs at the Commercial Truck Center down the street instead of the dealership's service department.

He also wrote the financing guide for shoppers in Kent, Federal Way, Puyallup, Renton, Bonney Lake and Enumclaw who would rather send a credit application from home before making the drive to Auburn. It sticks to what lenders, the CFPB and Washington's dealer law actually say, with no promises a dealership can't keep.
